Dollar figures use exchange rates on 22 October 2026. The PayScale pages were last updated between March and September 2026, and the Indeed pages in October 2026. Where a country has no reliable SDR figure, the table uses the closest local role and says which one.

How to Read These Numbers

An SDR salary by country table is a starting point, not a price list. Keep five things in mind:

  • Base pay isn't total pay. Most SDRs earn commission or bonuses on top. In the US, PayScale puts total pay between about $46,000 and $83,000 a year.
  • Some samples are small. The Australian figure rests on 11 salary profiles and the Philippine figure on 22, so one or two unusual salaries can move them. The US figure rests on 699.
  • Job titles split the data. PayScale lists US SDRs under two titles. This guide uses "Sales Development Representative (SDR)," the larger sample. The other title, "Sales Development Representative," averages $43,709 from 324 profiles.
  • Big cities pay more. SDRs in New York and San Francisco earn more than the national average, as the next section shows.
  • Offshore roles aren't the same job. A local inside sales rep who calls domestic customers isn't the same hire as a rep who calls US or UK buyers in fluent English on their business hours. The second usually costs more than the local average.

SDR Salary in the United States

The average SDR salary in the US is $52,866 a year in base pay, according to PayScale's 2026 data from 699 salary profiles. The middle 80% of SDRs earn between about $41,000 and $68,000 in base pay.

Commission adds about $4,000 to $28,000 a year, and total pay runs from about $46,000 to $83,000.

Experience and city move the number:

GroupAverageSource
Entry level (under 1 year), total pay$48,414PayScale, 247 salaries
National average, base pay$52,866PayScale, 699 profiles
New York, base pay$56,188PayScale, 66 profiles
San Francisco, base pay$58,602PayScale, 82 profiles, last updated February 2025

Titles matter too. Business development representatives, who usually focus on outbound prospecting, average $56,036 in base pay, and account executives, who close the deals, average $70,519. Our guide to SDR vs BDR explains the difference between the roles.

Commission ranges from under £1,000 to about £16,000 a year, and total pay from about £24,000 to £51,000. Roles in London often pay more.

Treat this one with care: it rests on only 11 PayScale profiles. Check current job postings in your city before you set an offer.

Offshore SDR Salaries

Offshore, an SDR salary by country comparison looks very different. Many companies hire SDRs, or callers who do the same job, from countries with lower pay and a large English-speaking workforce. We have a detailed guide for each country we recruit in:

  • The Philippines: PayScale's local SDR average is ₱420,000 a year, about $550 a month. Reps who call US buyers on night shifts expect more: our Philippines SDR salary benchmark estimates $800 to $2,000 a month for B2B SDRs, from job postings and agency rates.
  • India: inside sales reps average about ₹39,600 a month, or $419. See our guide to SDR salary in India.
  • South Africa: business development reps average about R15,200 a month, or $926. See our guide to SDR salary in South Africa.
  • Mexico and Colombia: sales roles average about $530 to $690 a month. See our guide to SDR salary in Latin America.

Each guide also covers the legal extras on top of salary in that country and the shift times for US, UK and European clients.

What Moves SDR Pay Up or Down

Behind every SDR salary by country average, pay depends on a handful of things you can check before you make an offer:

  • Experience. In the US, entry-level SDRs average about $48,400 in total pay. Reps with a track record of booked meetings ask for more, and many later move into account executive roles.
  • Inbound or outbound work. Outbound prospecting is harder to hire for, which is one reason BDR titles average more than SDR titles.
  • City. New York and San Francisco pay several thousand dollars more than the US average.
  • Commission plan. A higher base usually comes with a smaller variable share, and the reverse. Compare total pay, not just the base.
  • For offshore hires: language and shift. Fluent English for international buyers, and night shifts for US hours, both push pay above local averages. In the Philippines, employees also get an extra 10% for night hours by law.

What an SDR Really Costs an Employer

An SDR salary by country table shows only part of the cost. Every country adds employer contributions on top, and they vary a lot:

CountryAverage baseMain employer costs on topRough yearly total
United States$52,866Benefits of about 43 cents per dollar of wages (BLS)About $75,500
United Kingdom£30,00215% employer National Insurance above £5,000 (GOV.UK), plus at least 3% pension on qualifying earningsAbout £34,500 ($46,200)
AustraliaA$60,41212% superannuation since 1 July 2025 (ATO)About A$67,700 ($47,500)
CanadaC$50,627Employer Canada Pension Plan and Employment Insurance contributionsAbove C$50,627

These totals still leave out commission, recruiting, a laptop and phone line, and the time a manager spends hiring, training and coaching a new rep. For a fuller breakdown of a US hire, see our guide to in-house SDR vs outsourced cold calling.

How to Set a Fair SDR Salary

Whatever SDR salary by country table you start from, five steps get you to a fair offer:

  1. Check live job postings for the same title, city and type of work. Averages lag the market.
  2. Pick the band, then place the candidate. Start a junior rep near the entry-level figure and an experienced outbound rep near the top of the range.
  3. Set the variable pay. Pay a bonus for each qualified meeting that actually happens, not for every meeting booked.
  4. Add the employer costs for the country, so your budget matches the real cost.
  5. Put it in writing, with a 90-day review when you'll check the numbers together.

Our guide to B2B appointment setting explains how to write down what a qualified meeting is, so the bonus plan rewards the right result.

Local Hire vs Outsourced Caller

When you compare SDR salary by country, the gap between local and offshore pay looks huge. The fair comparison is the full yearly cost of each option, including the work of hiring and managing:

OptionRough yearly costWhat's included
US SDR, hired in-houseAbout $75,500 before commissionSalary and benefits. You recruit, train and manage.
UK SDR, hired in-houseAbout $46,200 before commissionSalary, National Insurance and pension. You recruit, train and manage.
Switchstack Hire a Caller$17,988 to $28,788A vetted, full-time caller on your team. Contracts, payments and equipment handled by us. You manage the calls.
Switchstack We Call for You$26,388 to $37,188A dedicated caller we supply, train and manage, with a script written with you and a weekly report.

Switchstack prices depend on the caller's country and have no setup fee. Both services run month to month, with a free replacement in the first 30 days.

If your goal is booked meetings rather than a new employee, our B2B appointment setting services page explains how the done-for-you option works, and the pricing page lists the price for each caller country.

Once you've compared SDR salary by country, choose by your prospects' time zone: the Philippines suits North America and Asia-Pacific, South Africa suits the UK and Europe, India suits the Gulf, and Latin America works US hours on a day shift. Our best country to outsource cold calling page compares all four for each market.
