Definition
A parallel dialer (also called a multi-line dialer) places multiple outbound calls at the same time — typically 2-5 lines per rep. When a live person answers any line, the rep is instantly connected while the other unanswered calls are silently dropped or routed to voicemail. This dramatically increases connect rates compared to single-line power dialers.
How It Works
Unlike a power dialer that calls one number at a time, a parallel dialer dials 3-5 numbers simultaneously. The system detects whether each call is answered by a human or voicemail using voice detection technology.
When a human answers, the call is routed to the rep in under a second. Unanswered calls are automatically handled (voicemail drop, skip, or retry).
For example, dialing 3 lines at once means you're 3x more likely to reach someone in any given time window. The trade-off is a slight delay (under 1 second) when connecting to the live answer, which some reps notice as a brief pause before they can speak..
