## Is B2B cold calling legal in Japan?

Yes. Japan's telemarketing rules in the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions are written to protect consumers, and contracts a company makes for its business are generally outside them. The Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) still applies to named contacts.

## Calling rules
- The Act on Specified Commercial Transactions sets rules for telephone sales, such as saying who you are and why you're calling at the start, and not calling back someone who has said no. They're written to protect consumers, and contracts a company makes for its business are generally outside them.
- We follow the same courtesy on every call anyway: your caller says who they are and why they're calling, and never calls back a company that has said no.
- The Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) covers how contacts' names and numbers are handled.
